About Cambio & Co.

Cambio & Co. is an ethical fashion company empowering Filipinos in the diaspora to #WearYourHeritage. We exist to create sustainable livelihood for artisans in the Philippines, while providing tangible ways for the global diaspora to reconnect with our culture through fashion. Every piece is designed and handcrafted in the Philippines to showcase contemporary, conscious fashion made with Filipino soul.

Our Commitment

Local Empowerment

Our pieces are designed locally and made by community artisans in the Philippines, many of whom have been practicing their craft for generations.

Ethical Production

We believe in fair employment, dignified working conditions, and minimizing negative environmental impact. Our goal is for our artisans to become self-sufficient by empowering them economically and socially.

Respect for Culture

We aim to preserve Filipino culture by fusing modern designs with Indigenous traditions, all while maintaining the integrity of the craft and community from which it came.

Why This Matters

Filipinos in the Philippines

The Philippines is home to a long history of craftsmanship, artistry, and indigenous traditions. We help preserve an often undervalued craft by sourcing products sustainably designed and handcrafted by fairly paid Filipino artisans.

Filipinos in the Diaspora

We want to create a space for Filipinos in the diaspora to reconnect with their roots by providing them tangible pathways to learn about Filipino traditions and history through contemporary, ethical fashion.

Global Community of Conscious Consumers

We connect socially conscious consumers to our community of entrepreneurs and artisans, opening up access to the global market, while giving social advocates an opportunity to make an impact through their purchase.

"We not only want to share the beauty of Filipino craftsmanship. We also want to share the beauty of our heritage and our power as a global Filipino community."
- Gelaine Santiago, Co-Founder

Our Story

Jérôme & Gelaine from Cambio & Co.

After a fateful volunteer experience, Gelaine Santiago and Jérôme Gagnon-Voyer fell in love with the idea of business for social good (and fell for each other, too!) After university, the two landed corporate jobs but felt dissatisfied. Lacking purpose and drive from their day jobs where people and the planet never seemed to be the priority, the two decided something needed to change.

As a Filipina from Bulacan, Gelaine had grown up in Toronto missing a vital piece of her identity and felt a need to explore her culture. As her soul search began, so did their travels to the Philippines.

In 2013, Gelaine returned home for the first time and Jérôme came with her. The trip refueled them as they discovered communities of ethical businesses run by young Filipino entrepreneurs, combating issues of poverty and inequality. These young people were changing the way business operates - business for good - and no one knew about it.

With a mission to showcase the goodness being fostered within the islands, the two created an online directory, ChooseSocial.PH, to help people discover socially conscious businesses in the Philippines. For two years, they dedicated evenings and weekends to their passion project. Although it was just a hobby at the time, people from all over the world began to take notice. As the inquiries came in, their vision to support Filipino businesses became more clear.

In 2015 they quit their jobs, took a leap, and Cambio & Co. was born.
