Each ear cuff is handcrafted by Filipino artisans in Ilocos, using the rare pre-Hispanic art of gold filigree. In this meticulous process, the platero melts and hammers pure silver into fine threads, shaping them into kalado or lace-like patterns. Every curve is carefully soldered, forming a piece meant to be treasured and passed down.

As this is made of 985 pure silver coated in 24-karat gold, this piece is more durable than traditional gold plated jewelry as there is a thicker layer of gold. It may still tarnish over time, giving it a more vintage look.

To help with long term preservation we recommend to reduce exposure to sweat and perfume and store within an air tight container or our custom AMAMI pouch provided with your order. We recommend not to wear your piece under the shower.

Once your piece has aged, if you prefer the most vibrant look of gold, you may obtain gold replating service from your local jewelry shop.

AMAMI is the passionate vision of Christine Tiu and Danielle Tan, two childhood friends hailing from Manila. By collaborating with talented Filipino plateros in Ilocos and Benguet, AMAMI hopes to revive our proud heritage of gold filigree jewelry, a pre-colonial technique existing long before the Spanish. The result are rare and precious heirloom pieces that provide sustainable livelihood to Filipino plateros, while carrying on the story of an endangered and intrinsically Filipino craft.
