The “Pista”, a Filipino word for fiesta, celebrates and supports different artisan communities of weavers and bag-makers in one joyful design. Visionary Filipino designer and R2R’s in-house creative lead, Christian Cera, mixes pattern on pattern handwoven textiles in a maximalist vision一because sometimes more is merrier!

About The Weaves:

• The Signature R2R Weave is how it all began for Rags2Riches! We partner with community artisans across Metro Manila in the Philippines to weave key parts of our bags. Artisans use strips of overstock fabrics from local garment factories to help minimize what goes back into our environment. 
  
  
• Binakol is a Filipino textile pattern native to the Ilocos and Abra provinces in the Philippines. Now widely adapted in local fashion, the optical illusion of this pattern was traditionally used to ward off evil spirits. Our Binakol is sourced ethically from the Mang Abel Ti-Abra community, composed of enterprising mothers who’re weaving a better future for their families.
  
  
• Pinilian is a lush brocade-style textile that, when touched, feels as if the intricate pattern floats on its surface. Native to the province of Ilocos in the Philippines, we source our Pinilian directly from Corazon C. Agosto Ethnic Handloom Weaving, a family-owned enterprise in the town of Santiago.
