About The Weaves:
The Signature R2R Weave is how it all began for Rags2Riches (R2R)! They partner with community artisans across Metro Manila to weave the top panel of every Mercado Fanny Pack. Artisans use strips of overstock fabrics from local factories to help minimize what goes back into our environment.
T'nalak (in Burnt Orange) is a textile by the Tboli weavers of Lake Sebu in South Cotabato. Weaving is a spiritual tradition in Tboli culture, so Dreamweavers have designed patterns for the wider Filipino community to appreciate, which are the ones we use in our pieces.
Binakol (in Midnight) is a Filipino textile pattern native to the provinces of Ilocos and Abra. Now widely adapted in local fashion, the optical illusion of this pattern was traditionally used to ward off evil spirits.
Binetwagan (in Sunrise) is another Filipino textile from Ilocos, a region rich with weaving heritage. Artisans use a pedal loom with multiple heddles to divide the threads into intricate, embossed patterns.
